"The Amazing Kirk" is the story of a womanizing, hopeless gambler and all around loser, Ed Difusco, who gets a second chance to do some good in life. During his poorly attended and not very sad funeral, his soul awaits it's final judgement in purgatory. Purgatory for Ed, is more like your stoner friend's basement, where you play X box and eat stale Cheetos. God arrives in the form of a twenty something who never left home and has one awesome 69 GTO in the driveway. Ed stands before God, who is just about to send him to an eternity of torture in the fiery pits of Hell, when Ed makes one last desperate deal. Five more years back on Earth to try to do some good in people's lives, instead of being the selfish, backstabbing slob like he was the first time. God is amused and since God has nothing but time, he agrees, but with one condition: To keep Ed from returning to his old ways, God sends him back as a ten year old boy. Ed arrives in a suburb of Pittsburgh, the beautiful town of Sewickly, Pennsylvania. But the Almighty has given him nothing. No money, no family, and no help. After an initial run around a local park celebrating the fact that he is not in Hell and is free of his arthritis, bursitis, asthma, swollen prostate, bad eyesight, smoker's cough, has a full head of hair, and all his brain cells are present and accounted for, he gets to work. First on his list-find a family. But how do you find a family that needs a ten year old boy? And what if you can't find a good one? This is where Ed has to use all of his experience and con artist skills to create a history and a life for the ten year old boy he has become. First a new name. He thinks of names of cool people from his childhood, TV, movies, history, but can't come up with any. Then he sees a rerun of his favorite TV series from his childhood, looks at the awful yellowish brown Tee shirt God sent him to Earth in and has his winner. From now on he calls himself "Kirk." And after advising some gamblers at the track for a cut of their winnings, everyone else calls him "Amazing."
